Our mission

At Book-Off, we believe that culture deserves more than one life.

Our mission is simple: to make books, manga, CDs, DVDs and cultural objects accessible to all, while reducing waste.

From Japan to Paris, we advocate for more circular, more responsible, more joyful consumption.

A second life for culture

Every product on the shelf has already had a first story.

By giving it a second chance, we prolong its use, we avoid throwaways and we make culture more vibrant.

Book-Off is the idea of passing on rather than throwing away.

Our Japanese roots

Founded in 1990 in Tokyo, Book-Off is rooted in a culture of care, respect and the circular economy.

In Japan, second-hand goods are part of everyday life: we resell, we buy back, we share.

Our teams cultivate this bond, taking care of the products… and the people.

The virtuous cycle of a book

You sell your books

In store, in a few minutes, with immediate payment.

We check them

Each item is sorted and valued.

They find a new reader

Back on the shelves at a low price, they are given new life in other hands.

The ones we can't sell?

They are carefully recycled with our partner Paprec.

A second hand that makes sense

Book-Off works daily to limit waste and extend the lifespan of cultural objects.

Our unsold items are recycled and our partner Paprec supports us in the responsible management of end-of-life products (paper, CDs, DVDs, plastic).

Buying from Book-Off is a concrete gesture for the planet.
